Rick has many hobbies, but to one that gives him the most satisfaction is of course motorcycling, whether it be Road Racing or Moto-X, the pleasure always outweighed the pain. He got all his inspiration from his heroes, Jeff Smith and Mike Hailwood and of course the late Bob King (who Rick says was a top bloke), Bob was also a local motorcycle dealer. Rick first road a motorcycle at the age of 12 and passed his motorcycle test at 16. At the age of 18 he competed in many Moto-X events and did very well, this he did until work commitment made time very short. In 1998 rick was asked to prepare a Suzuki RGV250 for a local lad who wanted to go Road Racing. This he did. As a result the RGV250 and his rider won the new era Formula 400 championships, and he is still winning today.Rick always follows the motorcycle racing. If he is unable to attend the races in person he watches the coverage on TV. Rick always finds much pleasure in working on motorcycles, whether it is a B.S.A. from the 1960s or a modern superbike, the enjoyment is always there. Ricks workshop skills have been obtained from years of working on motorcycles from a 1947 B.S.A C10 to current superbikes. His skills are endless, from wheel building, rebores, complete engine rebuilds, crankshaft rebuilds etc. Rick runs a very busy workshop with all the modern equipment required to keep your pride and joy running perfectly, and he carries out all the work himself. Rick has always been a hands on bloke, and he is always willing to help. |
